A joint community hub is under construction in Yarrabilba, and the community facilities will help meet the growing demand for services and spaces in Yarrabilba.
The Yarrabilba community hub is planned to open in mid-2022 and is a collaborative effort between Logan City Council, Queensland State Government, Brisbane Catholic Education and Lendlease.
The new community hub will be an inclusive, engaging, and responsive place that enables a thriving community to connect, learn, earn and innovate.
The site is located on Basalt Drive, between the Yarrabilba State Secondary College and San Damiano College.
The space will allow the community to connect with each other and provide learning and employment pathways through training and development.
Because the hub is located between two secondary schools, a dedicated youth space will be an important part of the community hub.
Council engaged with the local community to help determine a name for the facility via the Have Your Say survey system.
“What’s in a name?” asked Cr Koranski.
“Quite a bit if you ask the Yarrabilba community.
“Council this week endorsed the name of the new community facility.
“Drum roll please – The Buzz at Yarrabilba. We hope to open in mid-2022 and it’s a great partnership between Council, the Queensland Government, Brisbane Catholic Education and Lendlease.
“Thanks to everyone who provided feedback.”
