A special 10-year anniversary event for residents and the wider community was held last Sunday by Lendlease Yarrabilba with a host of free entertainment and a fireworks display.
More than 4000 came together to celebrate the momentous milestone for the community, a showcase of how far Yarrabilba has come in a decade.
The birthday celebrations included local student performers from Yarrabilba State School, Yarrabilba State Secondary College, and song and dance acts from local Logan organisation, the Village Green Theatre Group, renowned Brisbane band, The Vybez playing a mix of soul and RnB tunes.
With more than 10,000 people already calling Yarrabilba home, the vibrant, connected community is thriving with four schools, three childcare centres, health services, a Coles supermarket, restaurants, cafes, sports fields, and employment hubs.
The community’s very first resident, Regina Lata, is still living in the same home and has witnessed Yarrabilba’s transformation from a few dirt roads into a family-friendly community.
“Moving in as a single mum all those years ago, I remember moving to Yarrabilba with my two teenage children, looking for a supportive community for my family,” said Regina.
“From its humble beginnings when it was just dirt roads, I have seen it evolve and become a thriving community with so much amenity and services.
“Fast-forward to today and I’m now married, my two children have moved out of home. We’ve made so many friends here over the years, it was the best decision to make the move here.”
