Work on a highly anticipated $16 million family-friendly tavern at Yarrabilba is officially under way with completion expected mid-2022.

Owned by the McGuire Hotel Group, the tavern will offer dining spaces, family areas, a kids’ zone, dedicated sports bar, and large outdoor lounge as well as state-of-the-art facilities for meetings and functions including weddings catering for up to 80 guests.

Occupying a 4,000-square metre site in the heart of the community on the corner of Wongawallan Drive and Shaw Street, the tavern will be adjacent to Coles shopping centre and represents a major addition to Yarrabilba’s first retail hub.

Featuring approximately 2,000 square metres of floor space, the construction work is expected to create employment for more than 100 tradespeople. On completion, Yarrabilba Tavern will create more than 60 ongoing jobs for the local area.

Operations Manager of McGuire Hotel Group, Matthew McGuire said we are extremely proud to be bringing our longstanding expertise of more than 100 years in the hospitality industry to Yarrabilba.

“The industry is part of our DNA and this community attracted us because of its significant growth and its exciting potential.

“The tavern site, which is in a prime location to service the community, has allowed us to design a top-class facility that we feel the residents of Yarrabilba will really appreciate.

“The relaxed ambience produced by the design, with its attention to bespoke fixtures and landscaping, goes well beyond what is normally offered within a suburban setting and will be an exciting addition to our portfolio of 10 hotels in Queensland.’’

Yarrabilba is a vibrant $11 billion master planned community in the fast-growing Logan corridor that is setting a new benchmark for sustainable living and family-friendly features.

Lendlease Development Director for Yarrabilba, Michelle Wooldridge said the new tavern will be a major milestone for our community and a fantastic destination for Yarrabilba residents and others from the surrounding areas to socialise, relax and connect.

“It’s perfectly aligned with our vision to make Yarrabilba a truly unique and self-contained community for people of all ages.

“It also supports our commitment to creating local jobs, which is underpinned by Lendlease’s plans for a future 100+ hectare mixed industry and business precinct and a thriving town centre with an estimated 40,000-50,000 square metres for retail.”
