A capacity field took to the Mount Warren Park golf course Sunday in the annual Beenleigh & District RSL Commemorative golf day.

It was a very windy day which played havoc with some of the golfers, however all players enjoyed a day of fun and camaraderie with Veterans and the community.

Play commenced at 12:30pm with a “Shotgun” start after a briefing by the event organiser, Phil Buttigieg. Teams competed in a 2-person Ambrose event which is where both players tee off and select the best shot, pick up the other ball and play both from the selected shot. This continues until the ball is holed.

Several novelty holes were introduced to add to the fun and enabled more prizes to be won. Those included long drives, nearest to the pin, closest to the lines and closest approach shots.

The Beenleigh & District RSL Commemorative golf day is conducted in memory of those who served in military service for Australia. Funds raised through the day go directly to the Veterans through the RSL sub-branch.

Beenleigh & District RSL thanks the major sponsor, Logan City Council, for their generous support of the event.

Best dressed award went to Kyle Faram from 2530.tours. Kyle owns and runs a business that takes Veterans, First Responders and other people suffering anxiety and PTSD, on kayaking adventures to enjoy the outdoors and open-up conversations about what they’re going through.
