For the past couple of months Louie Naumovski from Logan House Fire Support Network has been working on a project with emergency services of Logan to make it a special Christmas for local kids and sick children.

Thanks to the generous donations from Logan locals and Logan businesses, many toys, books, games, lollies and more have been donated for the Christmas Day Santa Run.

Come Christmas morning Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service, SES and Logan House Fire Support Network will be leaving from Woodridge Fire Station and travelling streets around Logan with Santa, handing out lollies to children along the way to their final destination of the Logan Children’s Hospital.

Louie Naumovski said today is about all of emergency services in Logan coming together to get ready to bring joy to the children of Logan and to those that are less fortunate.

“We are gathered here with Queensland Police, Queensland Fire, and Queensland Ambulance Service along with other emergency service agencies to pack some toys and other little goodies so we can distribute to those children on Christmas morning.

“We will be giving our time Christmas morning to travel to a number of streets of Logan and throw out lollies to all the kids, go to a couple of destinations along the way to our final destination of the Logan Children’s Hospital to make sure those children that are in hospital try to have a good Christmas and bring joy to them.”

Woodlands Neighbourhood Watch were one of the many organisations that put their hands up to help and Sharon Hamilton was volunteering her time today for set up, serving lunch and help with packing up.

“What a fun day to be involved,” said Sharon.

“Our Neighbourhood Watch group made a cash contribution to the Santa Run and we are happy to help out with volunteering today and with the food.”

Also in attendance were Jim Chalmers MP, Deputy Mayor Jon Raven, Cr Teresa Lane and Cr Mindy Russell who all helped with packing of bags for the Santa Run.

Cr Russell said if Logan is known for anything, it’s how we all chip in and work together.

“This mammoth effort is a perfect example. So many local kids are going to have a magical and memorable Christmas this year, thanks to the efforts of everyone involved.”

The team of volunteers lead by Senior Fire Fighter Scott Edwards from Woodridge Fire Station were quick in packing the bags and loading them into the Santa’s Sled.

“Keep an eye out for the police bikes, fire trucks and other emergency vehicles on Christmas morning; we are sure you will hear all of the sirens that morning so don’t be alarmed with what might be happening, it is us bringing joy to kids for Christmas,” Louie said.
