For two days Chambers Flat was filled with joy, fantasy, LARP, food, fun and jousting at the inaugural Logan Fantasy Fest.

The free event was a weekend of jousting, fairies, witches, belly dancers, pirates, medieval knights, hobbits, cosplay, super heroes, sword fights, live music and much more.

It wasn’t only the participants who dressed up as many of the event goers, including their pets, donned their favourite outfit and took part in the fancy dress and best dressed pet competitions.

Over the course of the day there were knights on horseback, archers roaming the grounds, pirates sword fighting all while being surrounded by market stalls and food vendors.

Katrina Kruse who organised the day and also plays the role of Lady Katrina, one of the jousters and purple witch horse archer, said that Fantasy Fest is inclusive of all genres of groups from the very accurate medieval re-enactment groups through to the fantasy realms of the LARPers and everything in between.

“Those groups did a wonderful job showcasing what they are passionate about and everyone enjoyed watching their displays and interacting with them in their encampments.

“We wanted this event to be a community based fun time for everyone to enjoy, whether they came in costume or not.

“The numbers were better than expected for this first time event, and whilst we had no idea the winds would be so high and we’d have local bush fires to contend with it was still a better turn out than we expected for our first one.

“The event was a huge success and the comments, posts and photos sharing from attendees on Facebook have been amazing.  Everyone is so excited for next year’s event, which will be bigger and better with some more attractions and hopefully a night time entertainment element to the event next year as well.

“Next year’s event will be moving to late May in the hope of more favourable weather conditions.

“I’d like to thank everyone who attended for making it such a wonderful first event.”
