Living in Logan means you get lots of wonderful places to visit, activities to participate in and make friends with awesome people. It also means you get to listen to a radio station that is dedicated to the city.

101FM has been on air for 35 years and is a completely volunteer run station with a mix of amateur and professional DJs on the air with a great mix of shows to listen to.

Being a community station, 101FM, like all not-for-profits, need help from the public to keep going and keep sounding great.

From this Friday, June 23, through to Monday June 26, the station is having a Radiothon and will be their biggest fundraiser in many years.

“The Radiothon starts on TJ’s show on Friday June 23, so that’s nine o’clock,” said 101FM President Mike Bennett.

“So that runs all weekend up until my show on the June 26 at 12 lunch time. Saturday, live entertainment in the carpark and a sausage sizzle, a coffee van and just loads and loads of really good fun stuff.

“Some of the guests I’ve had in the studio singing, they’ll be coming a long, so it will be good times and also a chance for our listeners to finally meet some of the people that they listen to, and we love meeting them as well.”

The station needs to raise $40,000 dollars to do some much-needed work around the building and upgrade old computer systems.

“We just finished refurbishing studio B, we now need a new mixing desk in studio A, our computers are about 10 years old, which is ancient in computer land. We also need new sound proofing throughout,” said Mr Bennett.
