Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz has announced that the Mount Lindesay Highway will be given a $42.4m shot in the arm as part of the Morrison Government’s Federal Budget.
Mr Buchholz said this upgrade of the Mount Lindesay Highway from Johanna Street to South Street will be welcome news for residents, commuters, tradies and freight operators who use this road many times per day.
“We will provide $42.4m as part of a total $53m project cost to duplicate the Mount Lindesay Highway between Johanna Street and South Street from two to four lanes”
“As part of this upgrade we will also upgrade the Johanna Street and South Street intersections and remove the Spring Street/ Jimboomba School intersection”
“This upgrade will keep commuters safe on the road, get people home to their loved ones sooner and provide better transport links for our urban and regional communities.”
Mr Buchholz also said the project will help play a key role in the region’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As part of this project, we’re boosting our local economy by supporting up to 150 direct and indirect jobs
“This latest funding injection builds on a series of infrastructure investments from the Commonwealth in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
