It was a day of sorting through all the donations in preparation for two big days of giving away school bags and stationery to hundreds of children.
Kids4Kids Foundation is based at the Bethania Community Centre and their mission is to give an opportunity for disadvantaged children to reach and expand their potential by providing school supplies, resources and programs that can help them prepare to become productive, responsible, ethical, creative, and compassionate members of society.
Volunteers from all over Logan stopped by to sort through the piles of donations that have been given to the charity over the past few months.
Charity bins were put at select places across the city including at Bert van Manen MPs office in Beenleigh where it was packed to capacity.
“Thank you to everyone who donated to the school supplies charity box in my office,” said Bert van Manen.
“Kathy from Kids4Kids Foundation picked up the supplies to deliver to children in need, before the start of the school year.”
Mr van Manen was at the packing day today helping the volunteers and other politicians including Cr Jon Raven, Cr Miriam Stemp and Cr Tony Hall.
The sorting and kit packing day was all in aid to be ready for Friday and Saturday, where over 700 children in need will be collecting their Back-to School Kits to be ready for the start of the school year.
Councillor Tony Hall had a fun time helping pack all the school supplies and thanked all the volunteers for helping.
“A big thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered and helped support the Kids4Kids Foundation big sort day,” said Cr Tony Hall.
“This will help families and 800 students get ready for school in 2024.”
