It has been three years since Woodhill State School last held their Billy Cart Derby and the 2023 event will mark the 29th anniversary of the event.

The event is one of the biggest fundraisers for the small school and while the billy cart race is the main attraction, there is a lot more happening on the grounds throughout the day.

Racing starts from 9am and in between heats there will be plenty of time to walk around the grounds to see the petting zoo, sheep dog herding, watch some line dancing and have your face painted.

There is a sausage sizzle, snack shop and you will earn your appetite after playing on the giant slide, watching the mullet competition, dancing to the live entertainment, and walking around all the market stalls on-site.

The billy carts will be driven by students at the school and others from the local community. There are some strict rules for the building of the carts however, like many other years, expect to see some wild looking carts.

The racing is always action packed and the local police will be in attendance with their radar gun to see who can snatch the fastest speed down the hill.

The Woodhill State School Billy Cart Derby is on Saturday July 29 at 6027 Mount Lindesay Hwy, Woodhill.
