A three-year-old girl who was hit by a refrigerated truck while crossing a road with her mother on Thursday, 18 April, has been placed in an induced coma as she continues fighting for life.
Around 8.40am, police and paramedics rushed to the intersection of Browns Plains Road and Webber Drive to discover the toddler had sustained serious head injuries.
Evelyn was struck whilst being pushed in a stroller by her mother across a traffic light crossing in Browns Plains. Her 28-year-old mother, Torie, was not injured.
The girl’s great-grandmother posted an update online.
“Our great granddaughter … she is in an induced coma,” she shared to social media.
“Thank you to QPS and ambulance service and all who stopped to help.”
Queensland Police said there are no cameras at the intersection.
Witnesses or those with dashcam footage are urged to come forward.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family, Anthony, Torie, Evelyn and their other child who is eight.
Just over $1,500 has been raised as of Friday night.
