Logan residents and businesses are reminded that this year’s EKKA public holiday will be on Friday, August 14.

Mayor Darren Power said the City of Logan’s public holiday would now align with other parts of South-East Queensland, including Brisbane and Gold Coast, but encouraged people to support the newly-launched Think Local, Buy Logan campaign.

“This long weekend presents a great opportunity to visit and support local attractions, cafes, restaurants and businesses,” Cr Power said.

“Logan businesses need support now more than ever before.

“The impacts of COVID-19 pandemic have been tough for everyone, so a long weekend is the ideal time to get some down time in, while also helping revitalise our economy.”

Many Council facilities and services will be closed on Friday, August 14. These include:

  • Customer Service Centres (Logan Central, Beenleigh, Jimboomba)
  • Libraries, Art Gallery, Mayes Cottage
  • Council Leisure Centres including gyms, pools and indoor sports venues
  • Animal Management Centre
  • Logan Recycling Market
  • Logan Entertainment Centre and Beenleigh Events Centre

Domestic bin collection is as per normal. Waste transfer stations are open on normal hours.
