The 2024 Logan City Council election is just over six months away and the battle in division one has begun with two candidates declaring and the incumbent seeming to have a change of mind.
Alex Fisher, a local to the division since childhood, has declared that she will contest the 2024 council elections for division one.
“I want to make division one the best it can be for all families who call it home too,” Alex declares on her website.
“I’ve spent the past decade working in leadership roles in not-for-profit organisations in the Disability and Child and Family sectors. Now I want to make a difference at a more local level.”
The second confirmed candidate is Peta Duffy who has a 35-year connection with the division and is raising her children with her husband in the area.
“I want to stand up and be that new energy and fresh voice in council for division one,” said Peta on her website.
“Fight for better local policies, safer communities and to ensure sustainable and controlled growth and protection of our beautiful green spaces.
“I have a passion for this division which stretches back over many years (actually decades) and believe that serving this community is a privilege. I believe that local council is all about 100% commitment and dedication to the local area.”
Both candidates declared early however it was after the incumbent, Cr Lisa Bradley, had publicly announced she would not be contesting the March election.
It now seems that Cr Bradley looks to be campaigning as she has been seen turning up to events, snapping some photos and posting them on social media.
While other councillors are staying tight lipped as to their knowledge about her position on running, a source close to council has said that Cr Bradley will be recontesting her seat for division one.
