Queensland Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed the death of First Class Firefighter Izabella Nash who died overnight following her injuries suffered at the Slacks Creek industrial fire yesterday.
Izabella Nash joined the Fire and Rescue Service in 2014 and served as a First Class Firefighter.
A second firefighter, Lia Drew, who is a Senior Firefighter, remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
“The thoughts of all QFES members are with Izzy’s and Lia’s families, friends and fellow crew members,” said a brief statement from QFES.
Cameron Dick MP said heartbreaking news this morning that firefighter Izabella Nash has lost her life after the fire at Slacks Creek yesterday.
“We mourn with her family and friends.
“Take time today to think of the sacrifice all our front line responders make to keep our community safe.”
Investigations into this incident are underway.
