There are not many people who don’t like a cake of some kind and it would be hard to walk past an event that is celebrating everything cake. Lucky you don’t have to as the City of Logan is the cake hotspot with the Queensland Cake Expo taking place this month.
The Queensland Cake Decorators Association (QCDA) is a ‘not for profit organisation’ that has been operating for over 34 years, in affiliation with the Australian Cake Decorating Association, with members throughout Australia and is Australia’s longest standing cake decorating association.
Every year the QCDA has a cake competition where Novices and Children right through to Masters compete. This also provides a wonderful display for the public and showcases what can be achieved in cake and sugar.
With the excitement of hosting well known, international, interstate and local special guest demonstrators, everyone in the cake and baking world eagerly awaits this special event. The event also provides a perfect place for related businesses to showcase products with vast numbers of the right and excited customer base attending in one place.
The cake expo has demonstrations, workshops and branch displays to facilitate learning and interest. This year they have also added baking competitions for children and adults. It is about learning exciting, innovative and new methods to decorate with a huge variety of one and two-day workshops.
You will be able to learn how to model with modelling chocolate, airbrush and make both wafer flowers and sugar and learn how to use royal icing plus more. There are also competitions to enter and new for this year, baking competitions for all ages and school tours.
With exhibitors selling their latest product, keep up to date with the latest products and techniques that will assist everyone in sweet creativity.
The expo is on from the 23-25 August with tickets starting from $20 and being held at the Logan Entertainment Centre in Logan Central.
