For the first time, Bert van Manen MP has introduced the Forde Volunteer Appreciation Awards which are to recognise and thank individuals and community organisations for their hard work and dedication to the Forde community.
“I am excited to introduce the inaugural Forde Volunteer Appreciation Awards and this year, I am asking you to help me honour the volunteers in our community for their selfless dedication and community service,” said Mr van Manen.
“Every year, many individuals across my electorate of Forde freely give up their time and energy to make our community a better place by volunteering.
“From helping in our schools to lending a hand during a natural disaster and everything in between, volunteers make a significant and lasting contribution to our community.”
To be eligible for the award, a nominees must reside in the Forde Electorate, must have volunteered within the Forde Community and individuals must be nominated in the category appropriate to their age.
The following categories will be used for these new awards.
- Community Organisation- recognises Not for profit organisations in Forde.
- Young Volunteer of the year – recognises young people aged 25 years and under.
- Volunteer of the year – recognises individuals aged 26 years to 59 years.
- Senior Volunteer of the year – recognises individuals 60 years and above.
An independent selection committee will be established to select the overall winner in each category.
Winners will be announced at the Forde Volunteer Appreciation Awards on Friday 24th May 2024, all nominees will be presented with a Certificate of Appreciation at the ceremony.
