Australia is spoilt for choice when it comes to the type of car to buy. South East Queenslanders are also spoilt for places to explore and visit, and one way to see more of this county is off the beaten track.

Local Beenleigh club, Twin Rivers 4×4 Club, was formed in May 2004 by four-wheel drive enthusiasts wanting a club in their local area – Beenleigh/Logan.

The club is a family socially oriented club, and it doesn’t matter what 4×4 vehicle you own, everyone is welcome, provided the vehicle is equipped with low range 4wd.

The club get together for monthly trips which can include day drives, social days, weekend camping trips to longer trekking adventures. Some of their 4wd trips can include camping/caravanning, bush walks, kayaking, boating, fishing, gem & gold fossicking, or just exploring this great county.

Belonging to a four-wheel drive club brings you in touch with others who have similar interests and can allow you access to otherwise closed areas.

For those that may be new to the 4WD world, the club can help with accredited 4wd driver training courses. As well as getting some driver training, joining a club adds the advantage of an element of safety, eliminating the risk of being stuck in an isolated part of the bush all by yourself.

When out on one of the regular organised trips, you are in the company of people who have similar vehicles and interests. There are always plenty of experienced people on the trips to give guidance, assistance, and helpful tips on how to safely enjoy some serious off-road adventures.

While the 4WD and trips brings people to the club, they also do other social activities where it is all just about having a good time and making new friends. Often the club will meet with other 4×4 clubs, which is a great way to share knowledge and meet more likeminded people.

Twin Rivers 4×4 Club is a not-for-profit and they meet at the Beenleigh Bowls Club on the second Tuesday of each month from 7.00pm. You can always get there early for a meal in the bistro.
