Jobs can be hard to get in the current climate however local business Beenleigh Steel Fabrication (BSF) is working hard to get Logan locals onboard.
BSF need to fill immediately 20 boilermaker and welder positions to add to their existing workforce of approximately 160.
With good long-term contracts in hand, BSF is set to grow enormously in the coming years and with a relocation and expansion of its operation from Crestmead to Berrinba next year, it needs to gear up its workforce.
Company Director, Anthony Stoeckert says Beenleigh Steel Fabrication is on the front foot to attract skilled boilermakers and welders.
He compares the search however, to like that of the “Hunt for Red October” the Sean Connery movie where the world is looking for a defecting Russian Submarine.
“BSF has looked up every fjord and down every abyss.
“We have engaged with service providers and government agencies as well as with the usual job platforms like SEEK and Logan Jobs.
“We have always trained apprentices and provided jobs for our apprentices on completion of their time, and we will be putting more apprentices on in the new year.
“Our workforce also has a diverse cultural background with people from around the world on our team,” Mr Stoeckert said.
It is the immediate need for skilled people that has Mr Stoeckert and his BSF team looking for innovative ways to boost their workforce.
“BSF has a number of long-term contracts and current involvement in iconic projects like Queens Wharf and the Cross River Rail.
“We are seen as a ‘go-to’ business for the more intricate jobs.
“We have the highest Quality Assurance including for defence industry needs as well as having the highest Safety level accreditation.
“Our relationship with our employees is positive as we have greatest respect for them and have a real understanding of what it’s like to be on the tools having been on them ourselves.
“With the 2032 Brisbane Olympics looming large as well as many other major infrastructure projects coming online, Beenleigh Steel Fabrication is well placed to win even more contracts to ensure secure and interesting work for our employees,” Mr Stoeckert said.
