Kingston College has recently welcomed their new Principal Mr Goldy Sodhi who has joined the College from North Lakes State College.

At the first school assembly, Mr Sodhi spoke to the students about his background, having grown up and been educated in Cairns. He worked as a labourer before saving enough funds to attend university in Townsville. Mr Sodhi taught at Kirwan State High School in Townsville before moving to teach at schools in Central Queensland.

He also spoke of his passionate belief that schools provide the pathway to freedom of choice of how students live their life in the future. He said teachers come to work to help students achieve freedom of choice through education. Making schools a safe, respectful and enjoyable place to learn is very important to Mr Sodhi.

Mr Sodhi has found the students at Kingston State College to be welcoming and respectful. The college grounds are spacious, neat and peaceful. Students have access to excellent facilities such as a Trade Training Centre, well-appointed gymnasium and swimming pool. Most importantly the teachers are passionate about doing the best for their students.

When asked about his plans for Kingston College, Mr Sodhi stated he wanted Kingston to be the first choice learning option for local students by providing a holistic education in a caring, personal environment. He also wanted to increase the connection between the college and parents in the local area.
