The suburb of Jimboomba will have a new medical practice early in the new year with patients able to access a new Medicare MRI.
Lumus Imaging Queensland is expanding its radiology network across Queensland and has chosen Jimboomba to set up a fully comprehensive service.
Construction has started on the comprehensive Radiology practice and Jimboomba was chosen due to its high population growth and lack of surrounding medical imaging services. The nearest MRI service is at least 30 mins away with other services like mammography at a similar distance.
The government’s recent initiative to deregulate and expand access to Medicare-funded MRI services for rural areas was an incentive to add an MRI to the practice.
The addition of MRI to the service as well as X-ray, low-dose CT, Ultrasound, Bone Densitometry, and Mammography will mean vulnerable patients in Jimboomba and the surrounding rural towns will have access to imaging services without the burden of long travel times.
“At Lumus Imaging we are excited to expand our service to Jimboomba,” said Lumus Imaging Queensland State Manager Darren Schwedes.
“We already have sites at Browns Plains and Beenleigh and this service will support those smaller practices and the communities surrounding Jimboomba”.
Construction has started on the site and the practice is scheduled for completion in April 2024. The site at Cerina Court also includes a medical practice, pathology service, physiotherapy, and other associated services. There is convenient onsite parking, and the site will be wheelchair accessible.
“At Lumus Imaging we are passionate about offering our patients a high-quality service,” said Operations Manager Gemma Crompton.
“We have invested in state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, and we want to ensure the community has access to a best-in-class imaging service”.
