Each month, for the remainder of 2023, Living in Logan will be selecting someone from the community who goes above and beyond. Often, the people who give so much are overlooked but they just continue to do what they do best.
This month’s legend is a disability support worker who loves his job and nothing more than to help those in the community. Athol Heynatz works hard helping Tammy Robinson at Formally Ever After tagging dresses and suits, doing some collections, straightening the racks, and washing items.
Athol served his county in the Australian Army for 14 years and is very loyal to his army life and brothers he made serving. He left the army when his then 11-month-old son contracted Meningococcal and became a double amputee to be his full-time carer until he was 18.
He’s a great father and stepfather and loves to find records and books in op shops. He is also a Star Wars fan and loves all things superhero and sport.
Athol is often seen wearing some loud and colourful shirts and even when major sporting events are on, he puts his volunteer commitments ahead of the watching the game, though has been known to have it playing on his phone.
He’s a kind man, tries his best at everything he does and would do anything for anyone if he knew he could help.
Athol is the behind-the-scenes community helper which is what makes him a Living in Logan Legend.
