Logan City’s own country singer-songwriter Jake Whittaker is back with a soul-stirring new single titled The Next You’re Gone.
The heartbreak song has been added to Apple Music’s Aussie Country, Country Risers and New Music Daily.
Co-written with collaborator and producer Jared Adlam, The Next You’re Gone delves deep into the aftermath of a breakup, capturing the raw emotions and longing for a lost love.
“Jared and I wrote this together, with Jared coming up with the title The Next You’re Gone,” Jake said.
“It’s a break-up song that tells someone else’s story because neither of us have had a break-up since before we were legal drinking age. It’s about that feeling when someone leaves you, but you still hold onto hope that they’ll come back, even as you drown your sorrows at the bar.”
Despite the song’s melancholic theme, Jake emphasised its relatability.
“My listeners will be able to relate to this song,” he said.
“Sometimes you just need to have a blowout and let your emotions out.”
With The Next You’re Gone, Jake continues to build his audiences and connect with his listeners on a personal level.
“I just like to write music that can connect with someone,” he said.
“I want to write music that people like, that speaks to their experiences and emotions.”
The Next You’re Gone is now available on all major streaming platforms.
Jake will perform at the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival on May 24-26 and the Gympie Music Muster from August 21.
