Several parks across the city are getting upgrades and new equipment and Loganholme’s biggest park is getting a facelift.

Alexander Clark Park on Dewar Drive will have a multi-stage $6.34 million upgrade with the first two stages to be completed in late November this year after a recent sod turning began construction.

These two stages include the main playground upgraded, top of the park, with a range of new play equipment and park facilities.

These include a feature play tower, water play equipment, flying fox, slides, swings, children’s bike track, active sports area, park shelters, park furniture, shade sails and sensory garden.

The upgrade to the park is designed in accordance with the Disability & Discrimination Act (DDA) & Australia Standard AS1428.1- Design for access and mobility where possible.

After a comprehensive public consultation process undertaken with letters sent to residents and a mobile office in the park, the design was finalised and put into place.

“It is exciting to see Stages 1 and 2 of the Alexander Clark Park upgrade project underway,” Division 10 Councillor Miriam Stemp said.

“I thank the community in advance for their patience during the construction phase of the project and I look forward to the first two stages being delivered later this year.”

While the park is being worked on, the pedestrian and vehicle access through the park will be provided around the worksite however some carparking will be closed during construction.

The existing public toilet will however remain open as no work is being done to this building. The off-leash dog parks and the lower section of the park will also remain open during this build.

Stage 3 of the park facelift, which includes a new park entrance, additional parking and new boardwalks, is expected to completed in 2024 with two more stages to follow on a timeline yet to be finalised.
