Man’s best friend is the dog, and all dogs deserve to be loved and celebrated just for being cute and lovable. Today though is an extra special day as it is National Puppy Day.
National Puppy Day is a paw-some day for all dog enthusiasts to celebrate unconditional love from their cute furbabies of fluff as they bring so much happiness and joy to all our lives.
While we’re all softies when it comes to our four-legged friends, today is also designed to raise awareness about puppy mills and help prospective pet owners consider adoption.
Established in 2006, each year the day has become bigger and more widespread with all the cutest and most adorable puppies put in the spotlight.
There are tens of thousands of homeless dogs, and many of them are currently at rescues or shelters waiting for one of two options: a forever home, or death. Often, people are reluctant to adopt rescue dogs because of certain preconceived notions about them, but rescue dogs are just as beautiful and willing to love.
While it is National Puppy Day, not everyone can always adopt puppies from rescues or shelters. That does not mean that you shouldn’t buy a puppy from a breeder, but it does mean doing your homework about the breeder you are looking to buy from.
Making sure the breeder you are looking at does not own or run a puppy farm/mill and all the animals are happy and safe. Check with other buyers and make sure the breeder is following all government regulations.

A dog is a beautiful creature that we really do not deserve to own. They do so much for our souls and bring so much joy and today is just a little more special as it is their day.
Don’t worry cat lovers, it is Respect Your Cat Day on March 28.
