A new Town Centre is planned for Greenbank with a $220m redevelopment and major expansion of the existing Greenbank Shopping Centre planned to commence in late 2024.

Region Group, owners of the centre, are answering the community’s calls for an additional supermarket and retail options. Region Group has revealed its masterplan ahead of submitting a Development Application (DA) early next year.

Region Group Head of Development Peter Sharpe said an amendment to the existing DA for Stage 2 of the Centre was made in April 2023, with Region Group aiming to submit a DA for the additional Stage 3 expansion early in the new year.

“We are in a strong position to deliver the expansion of Greenbank Shopping Centre – we already have an existing approval in place and have been refining our plans to deliver an expanded Centre that meets the growing community demand,” Mr Sharpe said.

“The faster than expected growth in population has given us the confidence to advance our future Stage 3 expansion, which will enable us to deliver both stages together and provide a significant boost to employment for the local area.”

Region Group already hold an existing approval for an expansion of the shopping centre, which is currently under assessment for a minor amendment. This approval allows for a second supermarket to complement the existing Woolworths, but the Greenbank population boom has encouraged Region Group to bring forward plans for a vibrant Town Centre that will include a new Discount Department Store as well as other community amenities.

DMA Partners has been appointed as Region Group’s Retail Development Partner, advising on and managing all aspects of the development of this exciting Town Centre project. Region Group has been collaborating with DMA Partners on the development strategy for the Project.

Representatives of Region Group and DMA Partners will be holding two ‘pop up’ information displays at Greenbank Shopping Centre on Friday 15 December from 4pm to 6pm and Saturday 16 December from 10am to 2pm to provide more information on the proposed masterplan for the redevelopment.

Locals are invited to view the masterplan and share their thoughts and comments on the design to ensure the Town Centre delivers a destination of choice for locals and positive outcomes for the broader community.

“We have been listening to Greenbank locals and have heard their calls for an upgrade to the Centre,” Mr Sharpe said.

“We are pleased to be working with the community through these information sessions to discuss the proposed expansion as well as our plans for a refresh of the existing centre – which will include upgrades to the façade, and improvements to landscaping, parking, signage and other amenities.”

Should approval be granted, Region Group will prepare for construction – starting with the existing Centre refresh – in late 2024.

Greenbank Shopping Centre is located within the Flagstone Priority Development area and situated adjacent to other proposed developments such as a new Logan Council library and community facility, state health hub, new school, and train station.
