Local Beenleigh/Eagleby charity Nightlight announced in mid-March that they had a car to giveaway to a deserving person within the community of Logan.

The 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer automatic with six months registration and a full tank of fuel was the prize for someone who, in 50 words or less, could tell the Nightlight board how this car could help them improve their life.

The car was looked over by local business Beenleigh Tyre & Auto Car and was given a clean by Rezurrected Detailing, who both help support the Nightlight team.

With many deserving people entering, the board had a tough decision to make.

“Thank you so much for the overwhelming response to the free car giveaway,” a representative said on Facebook.

“There were many entries which were worthy of the vehicle.

“However, we could only choose one.”

The winner was told on Friday last week, 12 April, that they had been selected as the deserving recipient of the vehicle.

Winner Jess, a single mum to three children, was homeless for a while with her children before now in transitional housing.

She walks her children to school and then volunteers in Kingston for a few hours before walking back to her children.

“This car will change her and the children’s lives in many, many ways,” said the Nightlight representative.
