Logan City reveals its true heart.
With talent emerging across Logan over the last 40 years, it’s not surprising that a young man with both an ambition and a Filipino background has risen to the surface.
To discover such a person is wonderful, but it’s also a painful realization that overnight musical success is more about hard work than an imaginary recording contract dropping into your lap. It is indeed, a “long way to the top” – and you know how the rest of the song goes…
We’re talking about one Jordan Briton. He has been striving hard behind the scenes. Karaoke bars, busking near bus shelters, using small rigs, and doing tough gigs. Weddings and “what-evers”, in all sorts of weather – but he’s also been mixing with some industry-experienced people. Musicians who are steering Jordan in the right direction, like bassist Lee Novak from “Savage Garden”.
Recently, in an interview with 101 FM’s morning host Mike Bennett, Jordan Briton brought his guitar into Studio A and went “Live to Air”.
In a strategically radio-friendly move, he played two terrific songs. One original – and an amazing cover of Tracey Chapman’s “Fast Car”. Listeners quickly identified the song and admired his talent both on the fretboard with some tricky chords, and his unique vocal dynamics.
Jordan’s influences range from the Grammy Award winning John Mayer, Tom Misch (English Muso and Producer) and Mac Ayres (American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and Producer).
Jordan has another single expected out this month, “Make It So Easy” featuring Brisbane’s pop duo – “Juno”.
Logan’s 101FM is a professionally envied, Community Radio Station now in its 35th year, run by dedicated volunteers.
They pay particular attention to identifying local talented musical artists, just like Jordan Briton, creating accessibility and offering industry advice for the taking. For them, “it’s all about the music”.
He’s bound to go places, and we should be proud of the musical heritage this fair city has!
