It’s been meme’d to be wary of anyone who doesn’t know the lyrics of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”. (A reference to a scene in the 1992 iconic movie ‘Wayne’s World.’) If that’s the case, then we were in the safest concert in South-East Queensland – everybody knew the lyrics to both Bowie and Queen!
The ‘Killer Queen Experience’, supported by the amazing ‘David Bowie Show’ was actually backed by a massive 200-piece mixed choir that filled the Fitzy’s Loganholme ballroom – or so It seemed!
We were in that choir amongst an orchestra of air-guitarists and air-drummers, we all played in perfect pitch and timing. You’d expect nothing less from us, right?
The sound guys pulled off an amazing crystal-clear volume so that Wayne Vitale – experienced David Bowie artist – also the bass player in the Killer Queen Experience and John Blunt as Freddie Mercury could boom those rich pickings of hit 1980’s songs right into place on the busy Fitzy’s dance floor.
Make no mistake, this wasn’t another pub gig. These were international standard performances on a micro scale.
The Killer Queen Experience always sell out. Anywhere. Song after song starting with Bowies’ “Chchchanges” and ending the night with “We are the Champions” with a golden track-load in between.
Precision playing and fun musical entertainment made this Friday night more than a fantasy. It’s a crazy little thing - that we can be heroes just for one day.
