This Friday will see hundreds of kilos of freshly cooked prawns devoured by more than 600 party goers as the Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce host the 23rd Annual Prawn Day.

What is more quintessentially Australian than ripping the head, tail and shell off a freshly cooked prawn? The answer to that of course is nothing, besides downing a few tasty brews while doing it, which is also going to happen on the day.

The region’s most prominent business, community and government leaders love to attend this iconic event and with so many people it is the chambers biggest networking event for the year.

With tickets starting at $130 you get all the prawns you can eat along with all the Asahi beer, De Bortoli wine and Beenleigh Rum cocktails you can handle, responsibility of course. Plus there will be a load of entertainment, competitions and raffles happening throughout the day.

Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce committee member Mark Ellis said the first couple of hours of prawn day is a fantastic business opportunity for networking.

“After that it’s a fantastic opportunity to party and that’s what people do and they do it well.

“People have a good time and it’s all very friendly.”

Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce President Karen Murphy said she was counting down the days till the event.

“There is just over a week to go till Prawn Day and I am super excited.

“Thank you to our sponsors and all of the board members who are my family and make this event so good. You do not want to miss it.”
