The names are beginning to drop for candidates for the March 2024 Local Government Elections with division 7 having a red vs blue fight.
Incumbent councillor for division 7, Tim Frazer, was voted in at the 2020 elections after beating six other candidates with a preliminary count of 24.19 per cent.
Immediately after completing his school studies, Tim joined the Army Reserve. He served in the Royal Australian Corp of Engineers for almost 10 years, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal.
Cr Frazer has a Psychology degree and holds certificates in Engineering (Fitting and Turning) and Training and Assessment. Cr Frazer is a Labor Party member and while he is not as active on social media as others, this quiet achiever has been getting things done in his area.
Coming in for the blue side is Anthony Shorten who is a former Australian Liberal National politician and a former Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.
Shorten represented Algester from 2012 to 2015 before Leeanne Enoch took hold of the electorate.
Living in Logan for over 20 years, he’s a passionate advocate for community welfare and has a six-point plan that focuses on safe communities, better connectivity, enhanced playgrounds, improved public transport, greener suburbs, and ensuring value for residents’ rates.
Alongside working full time, Anthony accomplished a certificate in Training and Assessment, teaching business to international students.
