Police have arrested a man following the alleged unlawful use of a motor vehicle and discharging a firearm in Shailer Park overnight.

Around 9pm, police attempted to intercept a stolen vehicle in the Beenleigh area. The driver failed to stop.

A short time later, police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device, but the driver sped away.

On Plantain Road, Shailer Park while driving towards police, the driver allegedly shot at police.

Minutes later, the vehicle was located abandoned on Thistlerow Street.

Police located the man on the roof of a house, and he was taken into custody. He is expected to face a number of charges.
