Today marks 60 days until the City of Logan goes to the polls to vote in a new council and mayor and with that, it means you will begin to see new faces, and some old, on roadside signs.
Under a new amendment that council made last month, the time for election signs has been limited, but not the number of signs that can be erected.
Currently, divisions one, four, five, and seven have several candidates fighting for the number one in their box, meaning these locations will see campaign signs.
The mayoral campaign currently has one candidate however, this is not fazing him as he has been working on his strategic placement of signs for several weeks.
Candidates will learn the hard way if they put their signs in places that are against council rules as Logan City Council respects and upholds the implied freedom of political communication and regulates election signs strictly for safety and amenity purposes.
This means if the sign is on council property, too close to a road or in a dangerous location, it will be collected, and a fee will be required to release the sign from council jail.
Unfortunately for voters of division three, the Democrasaurus of Cr Mindy Russell will not be making an appearance as it has never been discovered since it was stolen in November 2022.
