Today, 29th October, Logan City Council’s Parks Communities team hosted the BushCare’s Big Day Out at Riverdale Park, Meadowbrook, a day that is recognised annually to celebrate the valuable work completed in bushland by volunteers and to raise awareness of the BushCare program within the community.

Council currently has 12 registered BushCare groups and two TrailCare groups across the city of Logan, with a total of 238 active registered volunteers across all programs.

“With environment increasingly becoming a concern for many residents, the 2021/22 financial year saw our biggest intake of volunteers with 97 new volunteers joining the Parks Volunteer program and delivered approximately 655 volunteer hours in our parks and reserves”, said Councillor Tony Hall of Division 6.

“The programs aim to restore our significant conservation areas and protect them for the future and minimise the impacts of trail sports in our conservation areas, with community education and engagement a key part of the program.

“In Riverdale Park I was helping to plant 1700 new trees and enjoying a sausage sizzle after all the hard work.”
