During the Logan City Council ordinary meeting on Wednesday Deputy Mayor and Economic Development and Environment Committee chair Jon Raven made mention to the kerbside clean-up around Logan.

Kerbside collections allow residents the ability to dispose of household items and green waste that they might not otherwise be able to remove at no cost.

Recently it was announced by Brisbane City Council that they would scrap its program for two years with a saving of $13 million. However Logan City Council will not be following suit.

Cr Raven said that we were not going to make the mistake the Brisbane City Council made by taking away a loved service.

Cr Jon Raven

“We want to reassure the community that whatever happens in the future, in the next year we are making sure kerbside clean-up, which is one of the most loved services our council provides, stays exactly the way it is.

This announcement has come less than a month after Logan City Council awarded a new city-wide waste collection contract commencing on July 1, 2021 to Cleanaway Waste Management Limited.

Mayor Darren Power said in addition to the collection of waste and recycling bins, the next contract also includes options for Council to introduce a garden waste bin service and an on-demand bulky waste pick-up service across the city”.

Collection information can be seen below and also on Logan City Councils website.
