MINI Australia is set to introduce all-new petrol variants, the MINI Cooper C and S, along with two electric variants, the MINI Cooper E and SE, in Q3 2024.

Since the brand’s inception in 1959, Mini has captured the hearts of many across the world with its unmistakeable design and go-kart like driving dynamics.

It truly was a car of the people, with the likes of Paul McCartney from the Beatles, film legend Steve McQueen and even Enzo Ferrari each owning their own Mini Cooper. Its iconic status even extends to the fashion industry with designer Mary Quant being inspired by a Mini for her invention of the mini skirt.

65 years later, MINI is reinventing itself with a fresh design, elevated technology suite and an expansion of its fully electric offerings, all while retaining its beloved charm.

The addition of these new products will expand BMW Group Australia’s fully electric line-up to 20 variants by Q3 2024 and further cement the company’s position in offering the largest selection of electric vehicles in the country.

The MINI Cooper C serves as the perfect entry point into the MINI family. Equipped with a 3-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 7 speed DCT automatic transmission, the Cooper C produces 115kW of power and 230Nm of torque, enabling it to complete the standard sprint in just 7.7 seconds. 

The Cooper S steps up the fun factor with a 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 150kW of power and 300Nm of torque. From standstill, it accelerates from 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds. 

The fully electric MINI Cooper E showcases a 41kWh battery and delivers 135kW of power and 290Nm of torque. The upgraded battery pack enables it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and provide up to 305 km of locally emissions free driving fun. 

Go-kart driving enjoyment goes hand in hand with the Cooper SE.  Equipped with a 54kWh battery, it offers an impressive drive range of up to 402km. Producing 160kW of power and 330Nm of torque, the new Cooper SE reaches 100km/h from rest in just 6.7 seconds. 

Both Cooper E and SE models come equipped with DC fast charging capabilities enabling them to reach 0-80% charge in just 28 minutes and 30 minutes, respectively. When using a standard 11kW AC charger, the Cooper E achieves that same rate of charge in 4.5 hours and the Cooper SE in 5 hours and 15 minutes.

With its compact silhouette and purist design, the MINI Cooper embodies the brand’s philosophy of maximum driving pleasure with minimal footprint.

Embracing a new design philosophy of “Charismatic Simplicity�, the new MINI Cooper showcases contemporary minimalism on all surfaces to highlight the key features quintessential to the MINI Cooper. Keeping with the typical proportions, it also sports a short overhang and long wheelbase.

The large round LED headlights are a striking and unmistakeable feature that sets the hatch apart from the rest of the family. In combination with the redesigned rear Matrix LED taillights, there are three selectable light signatures for front and rear daytime running lights. All three light signatures begin and end with a specially orchestrated welcome or goodbye animation.

At the centre of the cabin sits the new central display: the MINI Interaction Unit. At 240mm in diameter, the circular OLED screen sets a new benchmark for digitalisation and perfectly complements the sleek and minimalistic interior.

One of the new key functionalities available through the central display is the MINI Experience Mode which perfectly aligns with MINI’s fun and playful personality. Each mode offers a bespoke set of sounds, visuals and colours which provide an immersive driving experience. A total of seven selectable modes are available: Core, Green, Go-Kart, Personal, Timeless, Vivid and Balance.
